08, September 2015: The Monthi fest celebration was commenced with a procession from the Opus Spiritus  Sancti convent to the Infant Mary church, Bajjodi at 8 Am. Before which the new corn was blessed at the convent. All the faithful, especially children took part in it with a great enthusiasm having basketful of flowers to be offered to Mamma Mary.
 

 After offering of flowers in the church, the Holy Sacrifice was offered, During which in the Homily Rev. Fr. Jocy D’ Souza reflected saying, “ ‘Monthi fest’ - a feast that is close to the heart of all Christians of Kanara (Mangalore) has a special role to play in every Christian’s life. Every feast we celebrate is not just for fun, or merry making, rather it has a message hidden in it, an incident to recall or a specific purpose to remember; So also Monthi fest.  On this day we commemorate the immaculate birth of Mary, and along with this celebration this feast also encourages family bonding. On this day let’s reflect on, firstly, Never ever sacrifice ‘your family’ for anyone or for anything. Secondly, prepare your children for the next world – this was the message of mamma Mary revealed at one of her apparitions”

At the end of the service the ‘Firjenth’ and all ‘mud’dom’ givers were honored with a Blessed candle. ‘Bajjodicho Kurov’ – parish bulletin was also released by Rev. Fr. Parish Priest, Shabas Crasta and others. He also thanked all those persons who had given their mite for the successful celebration of this feast. He wished all the faithful present, a happy feast and also prayed good health to those abroad.

After the blessing elders of the family received new corn and children were happy with the sugarcane.

Rev. Fr. Shabas Crasta, Parish Priest, was the main celebrant. Fr. Deep Fernandes, Fr. Jocy, and guest priest Fr. Christopher SJ were present.
