March 31, 2019 : An hour of Taize Prayer service was conducted by the Choir and ICYM Bajjodi Unit at Infant Mary Church, Bajjodi on March 31st Sunday at 7pm.
Taizé is a monastic community located in Taizé, France, founded in the 1940s by a Swiss named Roger Louis Schütz-Marsauche, familiarly called Brother Roger. A Taizé worship service involves sung and chanted prayers, meditation, a period of silence, liturgical readings, and icons. There is no preaching. The style of prayer practiced at Taizé has attracted many worshipers from around the globe and from many different denominations. The prayers consist of “short chants, repeated again and again,” according to an introduction in a Taizé songbook. “The words are sung over many times.”
Taizé Prayer Service began with bajans which were sung in, Kannada, Konkani and Hindi. Along with bajans Alleluia was sung in Konkani. Then a part of the Holy Scripture was read. This was followed by hymns and prayers of the faithful. Enthusiastic youth of Bajjodi beautifully arranged the stage with 'diyas'. At the centre of the altar a Holy Crucifix was placed. Fr.Ivan D’souza along with the parish choir group and youth guided the prayer session. More than 200 parishioners, children, youth and elderly alike, participated and had an enchanting experience of Jesus.
