Nov 5th, 2016: A pilgrimage is a journey or search of moral or spiritual significance. Typically, it is a journey to a shrine or other location of importance to a person's beliefs and faith.
The fame of the Attur Shrine, which is spread far and wide, more for the miraculous powers of the Statue of St Lawrence, having its own history, has always been the centre of attraction, devotion and veneration. The history of this devotion is not a myth but based on the facts of the life of this great but simple and humble Servant of God, who was privileged to live and die a martyr for his master Jesus Christ.
In this year of mercy Infant Mary Parish organized a pilgrimage to Minor Basilica at Attur. We began our journey by bus around 8.30 a.m. reciting rosary and singing spiritual hymns. We reached around 10 a.m. At 11 a.m. we entered the holy door of minor Basilica by reciting the Our Father and the Profession of faith. We had the solemn Eucharistic Celebration at 11.15 a.m. celebrated by Fr. Shabas Crasta and con celebrated by Fr. Ivan D’souza. Soon after the mass we visited the miraculous pond then we had the lunch and relaxation. We returned back to the parish at 4.30 p.m. This spiritual journey was really enriching. More than 50 parishioners participated in this spiritual Pilgrimage.
